Inga de Martin is painting experiences in which the observer needs to read into. Objects transform into Gestalt and disappear at the same time. Though they have found existence on the canvas surface, sometimes upright, sometimes twisted, or isolated, moving through space they almost dissolve back into it. Shoal of lines and daubs take up space. Motives seem arbitrary, only to dissolve again. Transformations disappear into unclarity. The experience remains intangible. I am painting to answer myself questions that my life is asking me. I assume the existence of a meaning of life that can flourish and thrive. Life presents itself incomplete and suggestive to me. It is based on feelings that encourage a permanent reflection of one owns activity and the reaction of others. My work allows dialogue with myself and others in order to confirm experiences, intensions and fantasies or just surprises. I conceptualize a painting and during its execution it develops into something different. I don't feel any doubt about this process and even include the unexpected as a necessity because my paintings develop out of this unpredictable illusion. Each work creates a space on a canvas which ideally develops into movements that the observers eye can follow as if in his floating consciousness.
