Lives and Works in Latvia

Stakle remarks of his work that in most cases it is not he who chooses his subject matter but his subject matter choosing him. In this regard, Stakle could be seen as to be amazed by his situation, his everyday reality and those elements in his daily existence that confront him or that he confronts. He records them knowing that they may mean something normal and basic, but when recorded, photographed with awe and admiration, they become special. They are the tangible objects and environments where we are placed, or rather, he is placed by circumstance and provide him the opportunity to see beyond them and tell different stories simultaneously. One could also consider another meaning for Stakle's theme in this series. With his photographic series, with his images of tangible reality available both in his mind and on paper, Stakle can place his dreams within them. Perhaps he also asks the viewer to do the same. Place for Dreams, as a title or as a command, could be a more active and compelling interpretation of Stakle's photographs. When I looking at my ordinary life, it seems that activities can speed up or speed down its rhythm; but in reality tomorrow is a place where everybody of us gets with the same speed. The main objects of photographing in this cycle are me and environment where I have settled down. Mainly photographs show still life with things of daily use. The cycle “Place for Dreams” is like a big self-portrait where are everything that is said is subjective reflections about myself.
