Born in South Korea, Mae Jeon also known as Koo, Mae-Hwa (Korean name), was educated in Hong-Ik University, earning a BS in graphic design and MFA in advertising art. After graduating, she worked for graphic design firms in Tokyo, Japan and in Seoul, Korea. In 1976 she immigrated to the United States and continued to work as a graphic designer in New York, until retiring from a 30 year commercial art career.

Mae began creating digital fine art in 2000, while she was working as a graphic designer. She had her first solo exhibit, using a digital medium in 2003. She has continued to exhibit her artwork throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. Her artwork has been published in numerous art magazines and collectors art books in the United States and Europe.
