DUSAN PREMRL, the last in the maternal line of famous painters, is a
descendant of the old Subic family from the Poljanska Valley. It was
one of these masters who painted the palace of the legendary
archaeologist Schliemann in the center of Athens. Dugan Premrl was
born on 14th April, 1937 in Ziri, Slovenia. He completed his studies
of painting and graphic arts in Ljubljana where, in 1966, he graduated
from the Academy of Fine Arts. In his student years already, he set
himself high targets devoting all his endeavors to the pure fine arts.
By research work at studio painting and drawing he gradually managed
in revealing the secrets and legitimacies of the fine art which had
been forgotten during several centuries in the culture of western
civilization, and have thus remained unknown both to artists and other
experts in the domain. He has made several study trips to Greece,
Italy and France. His art’ works have been published in specialized
international magazines and they bare been exhibited at home and
abroad. He has also won numerous prizes and awards. In 1999, he was
awarded one of the highest academic titles for his great artistic
merit - Corresponding Academician - by the Accademia Internazionale “Greci-Marino”,
Accademia del Verbano di Lettere, Arti, Scienze (international academy
of arts and sciences) in Italy. In 2000, the “Greci-Marino”
International Academic Order, which is carrying on the millennium
lasting cultural activities of the families whose names it is bearing,
awarded him the title of Academical Official Knight. He is also the
member of Académie Internationale de Lutèce in Paris, an international
cultural and scientific institution. us artwork can be found in
