Mappers of will understand and recognize a global map of the world when it is flattened out onto a 2-dimensional surface. The Artic Circle and Antarctica becomes widened at the top and bottom. New World Forgotten is a mapping of a "new world", but it is 'forgotten' -- cold or frozen and sadly desolate, yet beautiful and serene in its scenery. No one inhabits this place. Looking at the painting close up, the lines and textures of the canvas are rich with modulation and etched lines. The colors a pale grey-blue and the strokes defining the 'continents' dancerly and elegant, while bold and determined -- much like certain Chinese calligraphy.
